Taskers Chance Garden Club Celebrates 60 Years!

Tasker’s Chance Garden Club finished their 60th year with their annual Boxwood Christmas Tree Sale. The Boxwood tree sale had been one of the major fundraisers for the club since 1952. This garden club was founded in 1949 by a group of energetic, enthusiastic gardeners. The club has been active in supporting many projects around Frederick- The Butterfly Garden at Montevue, landscaping and gardens surrounding the Boathouse at Culler Lake, The Garden Tours held each spring, the Hanging Baskets in downtown Frederick, a bench and a paver in Baker Park, Community Living’s gardens, the Aboretum at Lincoln Elementary School, Citizens Nursing Home, etc. All of the monies raised are put back to use in Frederick. Many members are actie on the District V and State boards of the Federated Garden Clubs of Maryland. The club has also won awards, such as the National Council awards for their Garden Therapy project with Special Education students in Frederick. There are 50 members.
